Artificial intelligence delivers real-world safety and performance improvements

GreenRoad will use real-world examples to show how its new AI-based AskMila solution gives bus operators predictive safety capability.
At Euro Bus Expo 2026, GreenRoad will showcase the effect that artificial intelligence, with its predictive capabilities, is already having on passenger transport safety.
The company will demonstrate how AskMila, its new AI safety expert companion, reduces the chances of on-road incidents involving buses by helping drivers improve their behaviours. Other benefits include enhanced environmental performance, punctuality, public perception and cost management.
GreenRoad has worked with bus operators for over two decades and says its solutions are used by 70 percent of bus operators in the UK and Ireland, including Stagecoach, First Bus, Arriva and Metroline. Its AI-supported solutions – in-cab software and hardware, apps for smartphones and tablets, and central data-analysis platforms – are already in operation, and real-world examples will be used to demonstrate their capabilities at the show.
Predictive safety
AI, says CEO Yali Harari, is about far more than automating schedules and procedures. Rather, it enables deep learning that can identify safety risks before they happen.
“We’re providing our passenger transport partners with some very powerful in-house predictive capabilities,” Harari says. “An example is comparison of bus drivers’ behaviour with databases of past practices that have proven to be unsafe. A combination of real-time in-cab light/sound prompts and post-trip gamification is used to address any unsuitable habits that drivers may have. This results in predictive safety, with any driving issues addressed before a driver goes back on the road.
“Our very deliberate concentration on encouragement rather than punishment has resulted in hugely positive driver feedback. They appreciate that their performance and reputation are being protected, while safety and other key performance characteristics are enhanced.”
From reports to minutes
From the operator perspective, a key aspect of the new conversational AI solution is the speed with which a wide range of needs can be addressed.
“Within just a few weeks of adopting AskMila, we’re seeing operators confident enough to set up more effective processes that address all sorts of risks and operational requirements,” Harari explains. “They very quickly move beyond manual report generation, which is time-consuming and labour-intensive, to creating in just minutes reports that, for example, pre-schedule which drivers will need specific interventions, decide which drivers are most suited to particular routes or vehicles, manage risk by individual route, vehicle or time of day, and address fuel price volatility.”
GreenRoad is also looking to expand its customer base beyond the UK, Singapore, Australia and Dubai, and visitors can expect to learn more about a series of partnerships that will expand the company’s reach internationally.
