Higer Azure 9 diesel small bus set for UK debut at Euro Bus Expo

Harris Bus and Coach has confirmed its first Higer diesel bus for the UK and Ireland market, with the 8.9m door-forward Azure 9 to make its debut at Euro Bus Expo at the NEC Birmingham on 3-5 November.

It will come at an “ultra-competitive” price point and with a three-year/300,000km manufacturer’s warranty, the dealership says. A total passenger capacity of 63 is promised, including 23 fixed seats and five tip-up positions.

Power is from the 4.5-litre Cummins B4.5 engine developing 220bhp and 820Nm of torque coupled to a Voith automatic gearbox. Air suspension is fitted to both axles along with disc brakes and Wabco EBS.

Beyond the warranty, support will be further anchored by Harris Bus and Coach’s commitment to a 50-point dealer network to ensure that buyers are never more than 150km or 90 minutes from one of those service locations.

The vehicle supplier believes that the Higer Azure 9 “offers operators a compelling alternative to established products in the sector.” It points to the proven powertrain coupled to what is termed a comprehensive specification and competitive pricing.

Recently-appointed Harris Bus and Coach Managing Director Dave Porter adds: “We see significant opportunity for the Azure 9 in the UK scheduled service market.

“This is an established Higer product, with Euro VI Cummins power and Voith automatic transmission – a proven combination for operators – and a specification designed specifically around the demands of urban bus operation.
