Stagecoach commences Ticketer TK300 machine deployment
Stagecoach has begun rollout of Ticketer TK300 electronic ticket machines to its commercial operations, with the first of those units in use in Oxford, including Oxford Tube coach services between there and London.
They offer faster ticket processing, simpler driver log-in, enhanced GPS tracking, printable duty summaries, and driver-to-control messaging. Stagecoach says that the introduction reflects colleague feedback, with positive initial driver reactions helping to inform the wider deployment.
Launch in Oxford follows what the operator says was “months of planning and collaboration between local and group teams.” Other improvements with the TK300 include better QR code scanning and contactless payment processing alongside what Stagecoach calls a more intuitive interface and driver log-in without need for a separate ERG card.
Feedback on the rollout approach was sourced via Stagecoach’s Tell Me survey, which highlighted a need for ticketing technology that makes everyday tasks easier. Drivers in Oxford “has been overwhelmingly positive,” the group says.
Speaking about the ongoing programme, Group Chief Information Officer Kate Jones adds: “This is an important milestone for Stagecoach and the result of months of hard work and collaboration across the business.
“Our colleagues told us that they wanted ticketing technology that was quicker and easier to use, and it is fantastic to see the positive feedback coming through from drivers in Oxford.
“We will continue listening to their experiences as we refine the system and bring the new machines to more of our services across the country. [They] will be rolled out across our other operating companies over the coming months, with the rollout continuing until the middle of next year.”
That process will be informed by feedback and operational experience gained in Oxford. In announcing its work with Ticketer earlier in 2026, Stagecoach noted how it was examining opportunities to consolidate onboard technology through partnerships with other suppliers via the online Ticketer Portal.
Mellor begins rollout of 33 AccessBus vehicles in West Yorkshire
Mellor has begun delivering 33 Strata Plus low-floor buses for West Yorkshire's AccessBus service as part of the combined authority's £6.5 million fleet replacement programme.
The order, awarded earlier this year, represents one of the largest to date for the Strata Plus offering. The new vehicles are based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter platform and will replace an AccessBus fleet which West Yorkshire Combined Authority says was between 11-18 years old when the programme was announced.
AccessBus provides door-to-door transport for passengers who find conventional public transport difficult to use. The buses have been specified around the service's requirements, with low-floor access, flexible interior layouts and additional provision for wheelchairs and mobility equipment.
The deployment comes as West Yorkshire prepares for bus franchising and the wider Weaver Network, due for complete rollout by 2028.

Higer Azure 9 diesel small bus set for UK debut at Euro Bus Expo
Harris Bus and Coach has confirmed its first Higer diesel bus for the UK and Ireland market, with the 8.9m door-forward Azure 9 to make its debut at Euro Bus Expo at the NEC Birmingham on 3-5 November.
It will come at an “ultra-competitive” price point and with a three-year/300,000km manufacturer’s warranty, the dealership says. A total passenger capacity of 63 is promised, including 23 fixed seats and five tip-up positions.
Power is from the 4.5-litre Cummins B4.5 engine developing 220bhp and 820Nm of torque coupled to a Voith automatic gearbox. Air suspension is fitted to both axles along with disc brakes and Wabco EBS.
Beyond the warranty, support will be further anchored by Harris Bus and Coach’s commitment to a 50-point dealer network to ensure that buyers are never more than 150km or 90 minutes from one of those service locations.
The vehicle supplier believes that the Higer Azure 9 “offers operators a compelling alternative to established products in the sector.” It points to the proven powertrain coupled to what is termed a comprehensive specification and competitive pricing.
Recently-appointed Harris Bus and Coach Managing Director Dave Porter adds: “We see significant opportunity for the Azure 9 in the UK scheduled service market.
“This is an established Higer product, with Euro VI Cummins power and Voith automatic transmission – a proven combination for operators – and a specification designed specifically around the demands of urban bus operation.
