Scania debuts next-generation Touring coach with Super powertrain

Scania has unveiled its next-generation Touring coach, which brings a new interior, the Super powertrain platform, and enhanced luggage capacity compared to the outgoing model.
The Super platform, which Scania says typically delivers an 8-10% drop in fuel consumption, is prepared for Euro 7 and gives easier maintenance and a claimed 25% increased lifespan. In addition, the number of parts within it is reduced, the manufacturer adds.
Beyond diesel, the next-generation Touring is also set for later rollout on other powertrain platforms in a phased manner. The first of those will be battery-electric, following Scania’s global debut of an electric coach at Busworld Brussels in 2025 with a Caetano eLevante body.
Exterior design has been reworked on the latest coach. Scania says that those enhancements give better aerodynamics and reduced noise levels, and include a camera monitoring system in place of conventional mirrors.
The driver gets a new Smart Dash interface and improved visibility. That has been achieved via updates to the door area and the side windows, and by moving the B-pillar 90mm rearwards.
A Scania datasheet on the new model notes that in right-hand drive format it will be offered at 10.9m and 13m on two axles, and at 13.2m and 13.9m on three. The Super platform in 11- and 13-litre displacements form the powertrain range.

For passengers, the cabin of the Higer-built body has been designed for what Scania says is “a modern and cohesive onboard environment.” Steps into the coach are wider and deeper, while luggage racks have been redesigned to complement a larger storage area under the floor.
Other improvements to the interior include Kiel Avance X seats with USB-C charging points, new colour and trim options, updated passenger service units, and ambient lighting.
Speaking about the model, Scania Head of Portfolio Management, People Transport Solutions, Sundeep Kumar, says: “The new generation Scania Touring is a significant improvement of what is already an advanced and highly appreciated coach.
“It combines the reliability and energy efficiency that customers expect from Scania with a much anticipated, new Scania-specific design as well as key upgrades in luggage capacity and for the driver and passenger experience.”
Mr Kumar adds that the revised model brings a refinement of the entire vehicle and user experience “with a state-of-the-art design, improved comfort, efficiency, and uptime. All in all, the new Scania Touring provides great value for operators, drivers, and passengers.”
